HEC warns students not to seek admission in unrecognized universities
ISLAMABAD – The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has issued an alert for parents and teachers about admission in illegal/non-recognized universities and their sub-campuses anywhere in the country.
The alert in essence
warns students not to seek admission in universities/Institutes not recognized
by the HEC, as the HEC will not recognize the degrees issued by the
unrecognized institutions.
The HEC has also asked
people to verify the recognition status of the universities/Institutes and its
campuses/sub-campuses from the HEC’s website or the Head office or the regional
offices of the HEC. The status of colleges affiliated with public sector
universities can be confirmed from the respective universities. It is noteworthy
here that private universities are not allowed affiliate other institutions.
The HEC recognizes
degrees only from accredited universities/institutions in the public and
private sector of Pakistan and degrees from their approved campuses, including
Transnational Educational Institutions imparting foreign qualification in
Pakistan as mentioned on HEC website.

Any university not
listed on the HEC’s website shall be treated as a fake, illegal, unlawful, and
unrecognized institution.
