Pakistanis have won the Erasmus Mundus Scholarships in 2023
Islamabad: This year (2023) 192
Pakistanis have won the popular Erasmus Mundus scholarship to study for Masters
in the European universities. This is the second year in a row that that highest
number of Pakistanis have won the Erasmus Mundus scholarships, leaving behind
India and Bangladesh. The program, called the Joint Master Scholarship Program,
is run by the European Union (EU). A
total of 2,835 students from 128 countries were selected for the Erasmus Mundus
Joint Master scholarships. This 6.7 percent of the scholarships were won by
Pakistanis.
To celebrate the accomplishment of the scholarship recipients, a pre-departure event was organized by the EU delegation in collaboration with the HEC.
Out of
the 192 recipients of scholarship, 89 (46 percent) were women and 103 (54
percent) were men. Thus we see a good gender balance among the winners of the
scholarships.
The
pre-departure event provided an opportunity to the scholarship winners to
prepare for their education in Europe and network with fellow students and the
Erasmus+ Alumni. The event featured, EU Chargé d’Affaires Thomas Seiler, Dr. Shaista Sohail, Executive
Director of the Higher Education Commission, representatives from EU Member
States, and members of the Erasmus+ Alumni Association attended the event.
